There was news on the injury front regarding a notable Brewer, and a former Brewer as we inch closer to Game 4 of the NLCS on October 17. Jackson Chourio exited another game with a hamstring injury on the 16th. Meanwhile, Nestor Cortes, who made just two starts with the team before he was moved to the Padres, had offseason surgery. Plus, Anthony Santander’s 2025 season is done.
Chourio exited with hamstring cramp
During Game 3 of the NLCS, Jackson Chourio left the Brewers/Dodgers tilt with a hamstring cramp. After taking a swing, Chourio came up hobbling and quickly left the field. Blake Perkins replaced him at the plate.
After the game, Chourio stated in Spanish that he felt he gave “a little extra” during the swing but physically, he feels fine. The Brewers outfielder believes that he can be in the lineup for Milwaukee’s must-win game in Game 4.
Chourio has been dealing with hamstring trouble throughout the playoffs.
Santander done for 2025
The Blue Jays removed outfielder Anthony Santander from the ALCS roster before Game 3, replacing him with Joey Loperfido. Per MLB rules regarding roster removals during the playoffs, Santander is ineligible to return in the World Series.
It ends what has been a challenging season for Santander, as far as injuries are concerned. He missed roughly four months of the 2025 campaign on the IL.
Santander was removed from Game 3 and did not start in Game 2 thanks to lower back tightness.
Cortes underwent surgery
Padres pitcher Nestor Cortes posted on social media that he recently underwent surgery on his arm.
The 30-year-old missed time on the IL this season with a left elbow flexor strain and biceps tendinitis. Reportedly, the surgery was to repair a tendon tear.
Cortes is a free agent this winter.
