It was a very quiet day across Major League Baseball. Thanks to many home openers on April 3, as well as a postponement in Chicago for the White Sox & Blue Jays, only three games were contested. Atlanta had a grand day in Arizona, while the Mets lost their third consecutive game.

Twins take finale against Royals

Minnesota defeated the Royals 5-1 to end their road trip with a 2-4 record.

In his second start of the 2026 season, Taj Bradley limited the Royals to five hits and no runs over six innings. Bradley didn’t get many swings and misses (15.7% Whiff%) but was able to work the strike zone. His 14 called strikes were the third-most on the day among MLB pitchers.

Cole Ragans, meanwhile, was also excellent. Ragans (40% Whiff%) didn’t allow an earned run and struck out eight over six innings. The only run conceded while he was on the mound was thanks to a throwing error by Salvador Perez that brought Kody Clemens home.

Clemens, Matt Wallner, and Josh Bell all hit home runs in the ninth to seal the victory.

Braves start road trip with win

The Atlanta Braves started off their first road trip of the season with a 17-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Matt Olson got the scoring started with a solo shot off Ryne Nelson in the first. Dominic Smith added one in the third, while Mauricio Dubon and Jorge Mateo each hit their first home runs with the Braves later in the contest.

As one would expect with a score like that, the entire offense got in on the fun. Every starter picked up at least one hit. Reynaldo Lopez (15% Whiff%) struck out three over five to pick up the win, while Osvaldo Bido received a three-inning save.

The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, had trouble getting outs. One of the lone bright spots was a third-inning home run from Jordan Lawlar, his first as a Major Leaguer.

Giants score victory over Mets

The Giants defeated the Mets by a score of 7-2.

Robbie Ray earned his first win of the 2026 campaign. Ray (40.4% Whiff%) had to fight off some walks but was able to strike out seven in the victory. His lone significant mistake was a solo home run to Mark Vientos.

Casey Schmitt picked up three hits, as did rookie Daniel Susac. Matt Chapman, Luis Arraez, and Rafael Devers each had two hits.

David Peterson allowed nine hits and five earned runs for the Mets in their loss.
