Given that there weren’t many MLB games on April 9, not many moves were made. However, the White Sox & Royals, two teams that had games on the day, freshened up their bullpens. Plus, the Angels and Mets made some transactions over the past two days, as well.

Angels re-sign Lucchesi

The Angels re-signed pitcher Joey Lucchesi to a Minor League deal.

Los Angeles brought the left-hander in after he was released by the Giants last month. He was DFA’d and outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake, and elected free agency instead. Now, he rejoins the team in a procedural move.

Mets assign Pham & Kimbrel

On April 8, the Mets assigned Tommy Pham and Craig Kimbrel to Low-A St. Lucie.

Kimbrel, who was in camp with the Mets, stayed behind in Florida after he did not make the team’s Opening Day roster. The reliever pitched on April 9, as he struck out one over a scoreless inning.

As for Pham, he did not have a Spring Training after he signed with the Mets after the start of the season. Like Kimbrel, he played on the 9th and went 1-3.

Options & recalls

Jack Perkins (Athletics), Eli Morgan (Royals), Brandon Eisert (White Sox), Mitch Spence (Royals), and Duncan Davitt (White Sox) were called from Triple-A.

Ryan Gusto (Marlins), Steven Cruz (Royals), Tyler Schweitzer (White Sox), Luinder Avila (Royals), Jesse Scholtens (Rays), Michael Kelly (Athletics), and Shane Drohan were optioned down to the Minors.

Other moves

Astros reliever Roddery Munoz was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Austin Voth went to free agency after the Blue Jays outrighted him to Triple-A. Josh Fleming (Blue Jays) was also outrighted to Triple-A.
