The Blue Jays have some more depth on the big league roster, as far as pitching is concerned. Patrick Corbin, signed after the start of the 2026 campaign, was officially brought up to Toronto on the 7th of April.
Corbin up with Blue Jays
Patrick Corbin‘s contract was selected on April 7 by Toronto.
This was a formality for Corbin, who was signed by the team last week. He had one tune-up start last week for Low-A Dunedin, an outing that saw him punch out nine over five innings. As a matter of fact, Corbin is currently the Florida State League leader in strikeouts.
His call-up comes at a crucial time for the Blue Jays, a team down several arms at the moment. Corbin is scheduled to start for the Jays on April 10 against the Twins.
Orioles acquire Raquet
The Orioles acquired Nick Raquet from the Cardinals.
Raquet, recently DFA’d by the Cardinals, was a former third-round pick in 2017 by the Nationals and a pitcher who made his MLB debut last season. The left-hander doesn’t throw hard — low-90s — but does have numerous weapons to work with, including two fastballs, a sweeper, and a changeup.
The Cardinals received infielder Brayden Smith. Smith was a 13th-round pick out of Oklahoma State last year.
Recalls & options
Guardians prospect Juan Brito was recalled by the team on April 7. Brito, who made his MLB debut on the day and picked up his first big league hit, was acquired by the team as a low-Minors prospect in 2022 for Nolan Jones.
Tyler Fitzgerald, acquired a few days ago by the Blue Jays, was also recalled.
Luken Baker (Diamondbacks), Dustin Harris (White Sox), and Joel Kuhnel (Athletics) were selected by their respective clubs and joined the 40-man roster.
Brandon Young (Orioles), Kyle Backhus (Phillies), and Andre Granillo (Nationals) were optioned to Triple-A.
DFAs and outrights
Josh Fleming (Blue Jays) was designated for assignment.
Joey Lucchesi (Angels) was sent outright to Triple-A.
Other moves
Joe Ross (Diamondbacks) and Tyler Beede (Cubs) signed Minor League deals.
