On March 16, the Blue Jays, Reds, Pirates, & Rangers were among the teams to make 2026 spring roster cuts. Additionally, there was also a PED suspension officially handed out, as Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas will be banned 80 games for the upcoming year.

Blue Jays trim roster

The Blue Jays cut the 2026 spring roster by seven. Outfielder Jonatan Clase was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, while six players were reassigned to Minor League camp.

Former first-round pick Arjun Nimmala, who played 15 games with the big club in camp, was one of the six reassigned to the Minors. Nimmala slashed .240/.367/.280 with one extra-base hit.

The other five were pitchers Javen Coleman and Michael Plassmeyer, as well as infielders Sean Keys & Charles McAdoo, plus catcher Geovanny Planchart.

Reds cut two

Relief pitcher Anthony Misiewicz was reassigned to Minor League camp by the Reds on March 16. Misiewicz, who struck out six over six frames down in the Cactus League, was one of two cuts made by Cincinnati.

Outfielder Blake Dunn was optioned to Triple-A Louisville.

Pittsburgh demote two

The Pirates also trimmed their spring roster by two.

Utilityman Enmanuel Valdez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Outfielder Dominic Fletcher was reassigned to Minor League camp.

Rojas officially suspended

MLB officially announced that Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas was suspended 80 games for PEDs.

Rojas tested positive for boldenone, which is a banned substance per the league’s drug testing program. His suspension will begin at the start of the year, and Rojas will be ineligible for the 2026 postseason.

Other news

The Rangers optioned pitcher Marc Church and infielder Justin Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock.

Miami optioned pitchers Garrett Acton and Bradley Blalock to Triple-A Jacksonville.

The Angels optioned pitcher Caden Dana to Triple-A Salt Lake.
