Baseball is Finally Back!

It’s been a very long off-season. Back in October of 2019, when the Astros and Nationals were dueling for the Commissioner’s Trophy, no one thought that the next meaningful games that would be played would be on July 23, 2020. But here we are today as a society, after a crazy four-month battle with the coronavirus (which is still going on). Tomorrow, the New York Yankees will take on the 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals. Gerrit Cole will face Max Scherzer, and the baseball world will be on its feet enjoying a matchup that features two of the best pitchers in the game today.

But it’s going to be a bit different than what we have been accustomed to. There won’t be any Nats fans cheering in the stands, and there won’t be a boisterous welcome for a team that brought the city a title. Later that same evening, there won’t be a crowd welcoming Mookie Betts to Chavez Ravine as he plays his first game as a Dodger. Everything that will happen tomorrow, and for the rest of the season for that matter, will feel different. But as a baseball fan, I’m just glad that this game is returning at a time when we could use it the most.

The start of the season also means it will be business as usual here at FH Freeway. Things haven’t gone as planned for us this year, but not a lot has gone right in the world this year at all. But, and to use a cliché (which I’m not a fan of, by the way), when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. While we will not be doing any minor league coverage this year, we will continue our analysis of Major League Baseball.

Between now and the end of the 2020 MLB season, we will provide not just analysis, but also fantasy profiles and more. If you’ve been a reader with us since the very beginning, we sincerely thank you for sticking with us. We’ve gone through a lot these past few months, but now we can start to moving back to the things we love, including talking about baseball. And that makes us very happy.
