We’re nearing the end of the first full week of 2026 Grapefruit and Cactus League action. More players are getting their feet wet, including Cal Raleigh and Brendan Donovan. Both had big days for the Mariners on February 24. The same can be said for Pirates prospect Konnor Griffin.

Griffin hit two home runs

Pirates prospect Konnor Griffin had himself a great day against the Red Sox.

Griffin hit two home runs against Boston, one off Ranger Suarez and the other against non-roster pitcher Seth Martinez. Those two were Griffin’s first of the preseason, and the day raised his average in Grapefruit League action to .222. However, it spiked his OPS up to 1.111.

Clark has rough day

Not a good day for Tigers prospect Max Clark.

Clark, one of the team’s best prospects, had an inning to forget on February 24. In the first, Clark lost a high fly ball hit off the bat of Matt Olson in the Florida sun. It hit off his glove and was ruled a single. During the next at-bat, Austin Riley hit a fly ball to deep left that, yet again, went off his glove.

One at-bat later, he slipped after throwing the ball in from left after Ozzie Albies hit a double.

He didn’t fare better at the plate. He did pick up a walk but went 0-2 in the 8-1 loss to the Braves.

Stone & Dodgers win again

For the first time in well over a year, Gavin Stone pitched in a big-league game.

Stone, who missed all of 2025, threw a scoreless inning and struck out two against the Guardians on February 24. The velocity was very good for Stone, who was sitting 94-95 MPH in the lone inning he threw.

As for other notes from that contest, Josue De Paula had three hits on the game, while Teoscar Hernandez had two more to continue his blistering spring. Hernandez sported a .714 batting average after the game on the 24th.

Runs scored all over in Peoria

The White Sox and Mariners combined for 22 runs, with Chicago coming out on top 12-10 against Seattle.

It was a big day for both Brendan Donovan and Cal Raleigh. Donovan, in the leadoff spot, went 2-2 for his new team. Raleigh, meanwhile, went 2-4 and hit his first home run of the spring after he led all of MLB in the category last season.

As for the White Sox, Brooks Baldwin went 3-3, while Tanner Murray picked up two hits and his first home run.
