To say that the launch of MLB The Show 26 was messy would be a major understatement. The title’s online services have gone down multiple times over the first 10 days of its lifecycle. That pattern continued on March 24, as online services were down despite Sony’s insistence that the issue was fixed.
Servers down again on March 24
MLB The Show 26’s online matchmaking capabilities went down again on the 24th during the afternoon. Those who attempted to log in to online game modes were greeted with an error message that stated ‘A game channel communication failure occurred.”

Sony confirmed on social media that it was aware that matchmaking was down and was working on a fix. An hour later, the MLB The Show social team posted on X that it was resolved, but it wasn’t.
The error message continued to pop up as of 5:45 PM ET, over an hour after Sony initially reported its fix.
These server/matchmaking issues add on to what has been a very rocky and bug-filled post-launch period for MLB The Show 26.
Among the issues have included numerous server outages over the first two weeks, Mini Seasons crashes, a bugged UI in Franchise Mode and Diamond Dynasty, non-existent Game History, and records not showing up in-game when one attempts to access them in the game profile page.
Those can be added to the bugs experienced during early access, which included one that caused foul balls in Rogers Centre to be counted as home runs.
Topical errors within the new interface with player info cards still exist. One notable bug is that Buy Now/Sell Now prices are shown for program-exclusive cards that are not available in the Marketplace if one looks at a different card first. A similar bug with Captain Cards also exists.
