This past week across Minor League Baseball was the last one to feature action from all four full-season levels. High-A and Low-A leagues crowned champions, three Double-A teams are on the cusp of titles, and Jefferson Rojas ended 2026 on a very high note.
Triple-A playoffs begin
We’re down to four teams left in Triple-A, with the playoffs starting and ending this week.
On the International League side, Seaver King and Rochester (Nationals) will face Memphis (Cardinals) in a best-of-three in Tennessee. In the Pacific Coast League, Oklahoma City (Dodgers), which just added Mike Sirota late last week, will face Las Vegas (Athletics).
The two league winners will square off in the Triple-A Championship game on September 26 in Las Vegas.
Reading, Rocket City among teams on the cusp
It’s championship week in Double-A, as three league champions will be crowned.
After Gage Wood & Reading (Phillies) swept Hartford in the semifinals, the club is up 1-0 over the Erie Seawolves (Tigers) in the Eastern League final. A Caleb Ricketts sac fly brought home the lone run in the Phils’ 1-0 victory over Erie on the 20th. The two teams will head to the western part of the Keystone State to continue the three-game series on the 22nd.
Springfield (Cardinals) defeated Amarillo (D-Backs) in the first game of the Texas League final, 7-2. Tai Peete, acquired from the Mariners this past winter, had five hits in the championship series opener. Tanner Franklin struck out nine over 6.1 IP.
Rocket City (Angels) won 5-4 over Biloxi (Brewers) in the Southern League final opener. Josh Adamczewski and Andrew Fischer both went deep in Game 1 for the Shuckers. However, the Trash Pandas, led by Jacob Cozart, scored enough to win.
Tyler Bremner will go in Game 2 for the Trash Pandas.
Champions crowned in A-ball
Down in High-A, two winners were crowned. Winston-Salem (White Sox) completed a sweep of Greensboro (Pirates) in the South Atlantic League final, while Quad Cities (Royals) swept Dayton (Reds) in the Midwest League championship.
In Low-A, Lake Elsinore (Padres) came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat San Jose (Giants) in the California League final. The Storm pitched a no-hitter in Game 2 to tie the series, and then won 13-2 in the third and deciding contest.
Jupiter (Marlins) walked it off in Game 3 of the Florida State League championship against Tampa (Yankees).
Lastly, Fayetteville (Astros) swept Charleston (Rays) in the Carolina League final.
Big week for Rojas
Jefferson Rojas will head into 2027 with a lot of momentum.
Rojas, acquired by the Mets from the Cubs for Clay Holmes in August, notched eight hits and three home runs, the latter of which was tied for most in the International League. The 21-year-old finished the 2026 season with 27 home runs over 126 contests.

- P Jackson Ferris (AAA – LAD): 13 strikeouts, no runs over 7.2 IP
- P Hunter Barco (AAA – PIT): eight strikeouts, no earned runs over 10 IP
- P John Holobetz (AAA – BOS): eight strikeouts, no runs over 4.1 IP
