When does the 2023 MLB Postseason and World Series start?

In early August 2023, Major League Baseball announced the schedule for the 2023 MLB Playoffs. The MLB Postseason is set to feature some of the game’s brightest stars and the 12 best teams in the regular season — but only one can win the World Series. Here’s when the madness is set to begin.

Start Dates for the 2023 MLB Postseason and World Series

The 2023 MLB Postseason is set to begin on October 3, 2023. Game 1 of the 2023 World Series is currently scheduled for October 27, 2023.

The 2023 MLB Playoffs will commence on October 3 — two days after the end of the regular season — with the AL and NL Wild Card rounds. The Wild Card round will feature four best-of-three series from October 3-5, between the three Wild Card teams and the division winner with the worst record among the three. All Wild Card games will air on the ESPN family of networks.

The ALDS and NLDS will start on October 7. The Division Series are best-of-five affairs, and potential Game 5 for both are set for October 13 (ALDS) and 14 (NLCS).

Game 1 of the 2023 ALCS is scheduled for October 15. The NLCS is set to start on October 16. The Fox family of networks will air the American League playoffs, while TBS is set to get the National League portion.

The World Series is set to commence on October 27. Here’s the scheduled dates for the seven potential games:

  • Game 1: October 27
  • Game 2: October 28
  • Game 3: October 30
  • Game 4: October 31
  • Game 5: November 1
  • Game 6: November 3
  • Game 7: November 4

Fox will air the World Series. Due to weather and other circumstances, these dates are subject to change.
