On December 8, 2024, the Baseball Hall of Fame found out the first individuals who be enshrined come next summer. And a month later, on January 21, three more names were confirmed via the BBWAA ballot. Here’s a look at what you need to know about the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame class, including who’s in & who didn’t make it yet.

BBWAA Ballot Inductees

Ichiro (99.7% of the vote), CC Sabathia (86.8%), and Billy Wagner (82.5%) will be inducted as part of the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame class.

Veterans Commitee Inductees

Dick Allen and Dave Parker were voted in via the Veterans Committee.

A 15-year veteran of the Majors, Dick Allen hit 351 career home runs and owned an OPS of .951. He was a feared slugger who had six 30+ home run campaigns, including in 1972 when he won the AL MVP with the White Sox. Allen hit .308/.420/.603 (1.023 OPS) with 37 home runs and 113 RBI.

As for Dave Parker, “The Cobra” was a feared slugger for his time, as well. Parker hit 339 career home runs and played pivotal roles for two World Series-winning teams. The former Pirate hit 25 home runs in 1979, then batted .341 in the playoffs to help Pittsburgh in 1979. A decade later in 1989, Parker drove in 97 in the regular season for the Oakland Athletics.

Other nominees included Luis Tiant, Tommy John, and Steve Garvey.

It was the final year of eligibility for Billy Wagner, who came just shy in 2024. The seven-time All-Star finished with 73.8% of the vote in 2024. Wagner notched 422 career saves, eighth-most in Major League history.

As for the notable first-time nominees, Ichiro and CC Sabathia were the clear front-runners.

Ichiro finished his Major League career with 3,089 career hits. By and large, most players who get at least 3,000 hits are in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also won the AL MVP in 2001, along with the Rookie of the Year, 10 Gold Gloves, and made the All-Star Game 10 times.

Sabathia, meanwhile, struck out 3,093 career batters. Nineteen pitchers have at least 3,000 strikeouts in Major League history. Out of that 19, only four aside from Sabathia are not in. Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling are among the list of four, while Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander remain active players.

There were also some other interesting names to watch.

Carlos Beltran finished a tick over 70%, shy of the 75%. Beltran has the resume, as he was one of the best switch-hitters of all-time. However, his role in the 2017 Astros’ sign-stealing scandal has likely harmed his standing among voters.

Andruw Jones has slowly crept up in the Hall of Fame ballot, with his high being 61.6%. This year, Jones received 66.2% of the vote. Jones will have one more shot on the ballot, in 2026, before he would get moved to the Veterans Committee.

Chase Utley has the fourth-best bWAR (64.5) among this group and snared 28.8% of the vote in his first run. He moved up to 39.8% in Year #2.

Former AL MVP Dustin Pedroia and former AL Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez were also on the ballot for the first time.

What is the percentage needed to get in to the Hall of Fame?

For players on the official BBWAA ballot, 75% of the vote is needed. Veterans Committee nominees, cycled out of the BBWAA ballot, need 12 of 16 votes.
