Abreu lands on injured list
The Red Sox placed outfielder Wilyer Abreu on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain. It opened the door for Roman Anthony, arguably the top prospect in MLB, to be recalled by the Sox.
As for Abreu, he didn’t start on June 8 but did come in the game to pinch hit. Manager Alex Cora stated he saw something with Abreu he didn’t like during the game. He received treatment both on June 8 and 9.
There’s no word on how long he’s expected to be out.
