Yet again, Bryce Harper’s dealing with a wrist issue. Harper is on the injured list after his right wrist, which gave him problems last season, has acted up on him in recent weeks. And in other injury-related news, Tony Gonsolin is back on the IL.

Harper on IL

The Phillies placed Bryce Harper on the injured list on June 7. However, it wasn’t for his elbow, which kept him out nearly a full week.

Harper, who didn’t play on June 6 but did in all three games against the Blue Jays, is on the IL with right wrist inflammation.

It’s the same wrist that bothered him in the spring of 2024. Harper said the wrist has been bothering him for some time.

“It’s been long enough to where it’s gotten to the point where I can’t really function on a baseball field…it’s just a good time for me to take some time and get it right.”

Dodgers lose another starter

Los Angeles is down another starter. The Dodgers placed Tony Gonsolin on the 15-day IL with right elbow discomfort.

Gonsolin joins a lengthy list of Dodgers starters on the IL, one that includes Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, & Emmet Sheehan. Sheehan, however, is on a rehab assignment, as he most recently threw three innings on June 7 for Oklahoma City (AAA).

However, the Dodgers got two relievers back, as Michael Kopech and Kirby Yates are back from the injured list.

Weathers exits game on June 7

The Marlins removed Ryan Weathers from his start on June after three innings. The cause? Weathers was hit in the head by his own catcher, Nick Fortes, on an errant throw after Fortes threw the ball to second after completion of his warmups.

Weathers said after the game he felt fine and was fortunate the ball hit him on top of his head, not the back.

Miami stated he’ll undergo further evaluations.

Other injury news

Pittsburgh placed Endy Rodriguez on the 10-day IL with right elbow inflammation.

Diamondbacks pitcher Cristian Mena was placed on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain. Corbin Burnes, out for the rest of the year, was transferred to the 60-day IL.

The Padres activated infielder Mason McCoy from the injured list.
