Several notable prospects had their seasons temporarily extended on September 2 via promotions. The Marlins moved up talented pitching prospect Thomas White to Triple-A, putting him one step closer to Miami. Franklin Arias, Kruz Schoolcraft, and Enrique Bradfield Jr. were also moved up.
White headed to Triple-A
Marlins pitching prospect Thomas White received yet another promotion, as the formidable lefty was moved to Triple-A Jacksonville on September 2.
White, the 35th overall pick in 2023, who became arguably the Marlins’ best prospect, was nearly unhittable in Double-A. Opposing batters hit just .183 off him with the Blue Wahoos.
The left-hander led the Southern League in strikeouts (42) in August, a total he amassed in just 25.1 IP.
White was promoted to Double-A in June.
So is Arias
The Red Sox are littered with young position players at the MLB level. Another one, Franklin Arias, is inching closer to his debut.
Arias was promoted to Double-A Portland, giving him a chance to extend his season as High-A Greenville lags behind in the SAL standings.
The 19-year-old Arias held his own against advanced competition. He slashed .265/.329/.380 (.709 OPS) with six home runs and 28 extra-base hits with the Drive.
Like with White, this is Arias’ second promotion this season. The shortstop was promoted to High-A in late April.
Other notable promotions
Several notable O’s prospects moved up on September 2.
Griff O’Ferrall, a Day 1 pick by Baltimore last July, was moved from Aberdeen (A+) and Chesapeake (AA).
The Orioles promoted 2023 first-rounder Enrique Bradfield Jr. to Triple-A Norfolk. He was moved up alongside 2021 second-rounder Reed Trimble. Bradfield Jr. had 26 stolen bases, 12th-best in the Eastern League, across 50 games in Double-A.
Additionally, the Orioles moved Jordan Sanchez to Low-A Delmarva. Sanchez, a 19-year-old Cuban import, posted a .950 OPS thanks to 24 extra-base hits in the FCL.
The Padres moved left-hander Kruz Schoolcraft to Low-A Lake Elsinore. Schoolcraft was the Padres’ first-round pick this past July.
Toronto promoted outfielder Dasan Brown to Triple-A Buffalo. The 23-year-old hit just .175 this season but stole 31 bases.
Minnesota moved two of its 2025 MLB Draft picks to Low-A Fort Myers: second-rounder Quentin Young and sixth-rounder Bruin Agbayani. Both are legacy players. Young is the nephew of former Major Leaguers Dmitri Young and Delmon Young. Agbayani, meanwhile, is the son of former Met Benny Agbayani.
