Thanks to the Easter holiday this coming weekend, many schools had their weekend series start a day early on April 2. It was a big day for the road teams, as Alabama, Georgia, and Boston College all pulled off upset wins in conference play.
SEC recap
Tyler Fay and Alabama beat LJ Mercurius 10-7 in Norman. Bryce Fowler had two home runs in the first two innings for the Crimson Tide.
Andreas Alvarez struck out 10 for Auburn as the Tigers took down Arkansas 10-2.
Tre Phelps went deep and drove in four for Georgia. The Bulldogs took down Mississippi State 10-9 in Starkville.
Liam Peterson went just 3.2 IP for the Florida Gators on April 2. Peterson struck out seven but walked three for Florida, who lost 6-4 to Ole Miss.
South Carolina blew out Texas at home 9-1. Patrick Evans picked up three hits, one of which was a home run.
Vanderbilt defeated Texas A&M 14-8.
ACC recap
In a matchup between two top 15 teams, the Virginia Cavaliers defeated Florida State 4-3. UVA’s pitching was very good, as Kyle Johnson struck out seven over four innings. Henry Zatkowski picked up the victory after piggybacking Johnson.
Jake Weatherspoon had three RBI for UVA. Antonio Perrotta had two hits and two RBI for the Cavaliers.
Boston College and AJ Colarusso beat Ryan Lynch and UNC 6-1. Boston College picked up 10 hits in the victory in Chapel Hill.
Ryan Marohn struck out nine for NC State, who beat Notre Dame 7-3.
Will Baker had two home runs for Georgia Tech against California. The Yellow Jackets won 17-2.
Duke improved to 20-12 with a 6-3 victory over Louisville.
Big 12 recap
Landon Hairston, named to the Golden Spikes midseason watch list, picked up three more hits for Arizona State on April 3. ASU defeated in-state rival Arizona 6-4.
Lucas Davenport struck out 12 over six innings for Baylor. The Bears beat BYU 12-5.
Houston defeated Texas Tech 8-6.
Five home runs for the Jayhawks powered Kansas to a 14-12 victory over Utah.
Other notes
Michigan blew out Oregon at home 10-0.
Oregon State shut out Lamar 2-0 in a road victory.
