March 29 marked the end of the weekend for most Division I baseball teams. It also marked the end of a strong one for North Carolina and Florida, two schools that were able to complete pivotal road sweeps.
SEC recap
Home runs from Derek Curiel, John Pearson, and Seth Dardar pushed the LSU Tigers to a 17-10 victory over Kentucky.
There was another high-scoring affair in Nashville, where the Commodores won 16-15 over Tennessee. Braden Holcomb and Brodie Johnston each had three hits in the victory. Vandy had three total home runs, one of which was hit by Johnston.
The Florida Gators continue to roll, as UF swept Arkansas on March 29 and pushed its current win streak to four. Brendan Lawson and Ethan Surowiec both hit home runs for the Gators.
Gavin Grahovac hit two home runs for the Texas A&M Aggies. A&M won 14-3 over Mizzou.
Alabama completed a three-game home sweep of SEC rival Auburn. The Crimson Tide’s pitching staff limited the Tigers to two hits and one run allowed in the victory.
Four home runs from Mississippi State helped push the Bulldogs to a 7-1 victory over Ole Miss.
ACC recap
Three runs from Virginia in the top of the eighth salvaged one game out of their series against Boston College. AJ Gracia‘s sacrifice fly was the game-winning run.
Georgia Tech defeated NC State 10-0 in an eight-inning, shortened victory via the run rule. Jackson Blakely struck out three over seven for the Yellow Jackets. Vahn Lackey picked up two more hits, one of which was a home run.
The North Carolina Tar Heels completed the sweep of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 15-10 on March 30. Infielder Jake Schaffner went off in the victory, as he hit a home run and two doubles in the victory. Camron Seagraves picked up the win after coming in relief for Folger Boaz, who conceded seven runs to the Irish.
Duke defeated Florida State 11-4. Andy Leon struck out nine for the Blue Devils, while Michael DiMartini had three more hits.
Big 12 recap
UCF defeated Arizona 3-2. Cayden Gaskin picked up three hits, and John Smith III went deep for the Knights.
A two-run single from Cole Cramer gave TCU a 5-4 lead late, one that would not be relinquished. The Horned Frogs improved to 17-10 on the year.
West Virginia defeated ASU 9-5 to take the series from the Sun Devils.
Other notes
Oregon defeated UC Santa Barbara 2-0 to take the series from the Gauchos. Ryan Cooney picked up two hits, and Cal Scolari struck out nine in the Ducks’ victory.
Roman Martin hit two home runs for the UCLA Bruins, who swept Iowa on the 29th. Wylan Moss struck out five over 3.2 innings to pick up the win.
Nebraska blew out Indiana 12-4 to improve to 22-6 on the season.
USC’s Augie Lopez hit two home runs for the Trojans in College Park, Maryland, against the Terrapins. The Trojans beat Maryland 14-4.
