The stretch run of the 2026 fantasy baseball season is here. For those who are in playoff battles, this is the time of the year when every point matters. With Week 22 of the 2026 campaign on the horizon, here’s a look at five hitters to consider targeting on the waiver wire.

• C Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays)
• 2B/3B/SS Brooks Lee (Twins)
• INF/OF Javier Sanoja (Marlins)
• SS Trevor Story (Red Sox)

Sometimes you have to look to ride the hot hand in fantasy. Right now, Javier Sanoja is the hot hand.

Heading into play on August 30, Sanoja batted .366/.409/.512 from August 17 through the 29th, an average that was among the top-20 in the Majors (min. 25 PA) in that span. He picked up six RBI for the Marlins between those games.

Speaking of hot hands, Jose Caballero had back-to-back three-hit days on August 29 and 30, although the Yankees utilityman had two games on the 29th to get there. Caballero is obviously a good player to have in points leagues, simply because he can do a lot. Hit, get on base, steal. However, even in roto formats, Caballero has significant value.

Brooks Lee is up to 22 home runs on the season and is quietly one of the more productive infielders in the Majors this season. Since August 21, Lee has had four home runs, not to mention hits in all but two games in that stretch.

Alejandro Kirk is also swinging a hot bat, with hits in three straight games. Another point on Kirk is that he’s moved into the top third of the Blue Jays lineup of late, batting either second or third.

Lastly, welcome back to the Red Sox lineup, Trevor Story. Story picked up two hits in his first game with the club on August 30 after coming off the injured list. As we noted two weeks ago, Story has a high ceiling compared to other widely available options out there on the market.

Overview of Week 21

The week was relatively quiet for Nick Sogard until the weekend, when the utility infielder picked up four hits, including a home run, over three games against the Yankees. So long as he continues to get playing time, he’s worth a roster spot.

For Lawrence Butler, that sentiment remains true. Butler had at least one hit in every single game he played over the last week. And between the Athletics’ series against the Twins and the Orioles, Butler had seven total RBI.

Alec Bohm, also on our Week 21 list, had four hits over the past seven days.
