While the Dodgers didn’t win a third straight World Series title this October, the good news from that is Shohei Ohtani should be fine heading into next season. That was the sentiment relayed by the Dodgers’ front office on October 21.

Ohtani won’t require surgery

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman indicated on October 21 that Shohei Ohtani will not require surgery on either his biceps or knee, both of which gave him trouble during the second half of 2026.

The other bit of news regarding Ohtani was that Friedman reinforced the notion that the two-way player will pitch and hit again in 2027. Ohtani did both for the first half before the injury bug caught up to him.

Additionally, in Dodgers-related news, Dalton Rushing will undergo elbow surgery. Rushing missed most of the final third of 2026 due to an elbow injury.

Fried fine heading into offseason

Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that Max Fried had his elbow looked at after the 2026 season concluded. Imaging on his UCL came back clean, and the expectation is that he should be fine heading into the offseason.

Fried had two separate IL stints this year thanks to a left elbow bone bruise.

Woodruff throwing before World Series

Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff worked in the bullpen earlier this week. Woodruff indicated that he tossed 23 pitches and was working 90-92 MPH.

To state that Woodruff would be a wild card addition for the Brewers would be an understatement. Woodruff, who last pitched in early July, was supposed to undergo a season-ending shoulder surgery. But he didn’t require it and slowly worked his way back.

However, Woodruff, currently on the 60-day IL, is a real wild card. The clear expectation is that Woodruff won’t be included on the Brewers’ World Series roster.
