Thanks to the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline, much of the injury-related news on a light day came from 60-day IL transfers & injured players being traded. Clay Holmes, who’s ready to return, Spencer Arrighetti, & Marcelo Mayer were among the IL players dealt on the 3rd. But there was also some injury-related news, including from the Pirates, as Mitch Keller’s season is done.

Keller done for year

One day after Mitch Keller battled through yet another difficult outing, the club announced that he was placed on the 60-day IL with a right arm teres major muscle injury. It will end Keller’s 2026 season.

His year concluded with a 5.29 ERA and 89 strikeouts over 115.2 IP.

IL moves

Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing joined Will Smith on the IL, as he was placed on the 10-day IL with elbow inflammation.

Shawn Armstrong (calf strain), Jason Adam (shoulder), and Zac Gallen (elbow inflammation) were transferred to the 60-day IL.

Other notes

Luke Raley is likely done for the season, per Mariners general manager Justin Hollander, thanks to a forearm injury.

Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove and Nick Pivetta will rehab with Low-A Lake Elsinore on August 5.
