Hunter Greene has only thrown one inning in Cactus League action this spring, and it wasn’t a good one. Greene, who allowed four runs in his lone 2026 spring outing, will get his elbow checked out as Opening Day 2026 approaches.
Greene set for MRI
Reds manager Terry Francona stated that Hunter Greene is set to go for an MRI on his elbow.
Greene stated that he has been dealing with elbow discomfort since the last few weeks of the 2025 campaign. The right-hander told the media that he “knows” that there are bone spurs in his right elbow but maintained that there is no ligament damage.
Francona indicated that Greene is throwing well. However, the concern is that Greene is “not recovering the way he’s comfortable” (h/t Fox 19 Cincinnati).
Kittredge likely to start season on IL
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz told the media that reliever Andrew Kittredge will likely start the 2026 season on the injured list.
Kittredge, who was re-acquired by the O’s in the offseason, is dealing with right shoulder inflammation. Per Albernaz, the veteran reliever has a low probability of being ready for the team’s season opener in late March.
Priester questionable for Opening Day
Per reports out of Brewers’ camp, pitcher Quinn Priester may not be ready for the start of the season.
Priester has not yet pitched thanks to a wrist issue. He is healthy but behind because of the wrist, which gave Priester some trouble during the 2025 campaign.
Other notes
Astros manager Joe Espada stated that Josh Hader, who’s coming back from a biceps injury, could throw a bullpen session next week.
Mets pitcher A.J. Minter will throw a live BP session on March 4 (h/t Newsday).
Tigers infielder/outfielder Javier Baez did not play against the Dominican Republic on March 3 thanks to back tightness.
