The Reds were able to make the playoffs last season thanks in large part to Hunter Greene. Greene was great last season, with the only thing slowing him down being a groin injury. However, a nagging elbow injury will require surgery and keep him out until the summer.

Greene needs surgery

The big news of the day came via the Reds. Hunter Greene will require surgery to repair bone chips and loose bodies in his right elbow, a surgery that will keep him out until at least July.

Greene was set for an MRI in early March after he was feeling discomfort in his right elbow. He stated that he knew that there was no ligament tear but also knew that there were bone issues.

While it’s not the worst-case scenario, it will keep him out until the summer.

Teel leaves game

White Sox catcher/outfielder Kyle Teel exited the Team Italy/USA game during the 2026 World Baseball Classic on March 10.

Teel injured himself sliding into second base on a double that went down the right field line.

Kelly to debut this week

The Diamondbacks confirmed that Merrill Kelly will make his spring debut on March 13 against the Royals.

Kelly has missed all of the spring action to this point with a back injury. And after working in simulated action for the past little while, the righty will get real game work in with two weeks before Opening Day 2026.
