It was a tough day for several Major League infielders. The Mets broke their lengthy losing streak but lost Francisco Lindor due to injury. Additionally, the Royals lost one of their own infielders during their game against the Orioles.
Lindor to get MRI
Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was removed from the team’s game against the Twins on April 22 due to left calf tightness. Lindor can be seen wincing while running home when he scored the Mets’ second run, and then sat for a second after he slid into home plate before he got up.
Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated that Lindor will get an MRI and is unlikely to play on the 23rd.
Garcia removed
Royals outfielder Maikel Garcia was removed from the team’s game on April 22 due to elbow soreness.
Garcia indicated that he felt soreness during his second at-bat on the 22nd. He stated that he expects to play on the 24th.
Anthony sat on April 22
Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony sat on April 22 but not because the Yankees were starting a left-hander.
Anthony was on the bench due to back tightness, per manager Alex Cora.
IL placements
The Phillies placed J.T. Realmuto on the 10-day IL with back spasms.
Wyatt Langford, one day after he departed his team’s game with a forearm injury, went on the IL with a forearm strain.
Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke went on the 10-day IL with a mid-foot bone bruise in the right foot.
Max Lazar (Phillies), Bryan Hoeing (Padres), and Triston Casas (Red Sox) were transferred to the 60-day IL.
Rehab assignments
Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell made his first rehab start with Low-A Ontario on April 23. Snell gave up three hits and two runs (one ER) over one inning (31 pitches) for the Tower Buzzers.
Mets reliever A.J. Minter gave up three hits and one run over one inning for Triple-A Syracuse.
Brewers pitcher Quinn Priester walked three, struck out two, and conceded four earned runs over 0.2 IP (29 pitches) with Triple-A Nashville. Priester averaged 89 MPH on his cutter and 91 MPH on his sinker. Both were down significantly from his 2025 Major League averages.
