It was a good day on the field for the Tigers — but a mixed one off the field. Scheduled starter Troy Melton was scratched, while Gleyber Torres made an early exit against the Astros. Plus, updates on Spencer Strider & Trea Turner.

Melton scratched from start

Tigers pitcher Troy Melton was scratched from his start due to back tightness.

Melton told media that he hopes to avoid an injured list stint (h/t Detroit News).

Update on Strider

The Braves received a promising update on Spencer Strider, even though it may not seem like one on paper.

Strider, upon consultation with Dr. Keith Meister, will be shut down for four weeks and then undergo an MRI.

Torres & Turner leave respective games

Aside from Melton, the Tigers had to pull Gleyber Torres in the second inning of their game versus the Astros. Torres, who missed time this season with an oblique injury, appeared to have tweaked something on a swing and was bent over before he walked off the field.

Trea Turner, meanwhile, was pulled in the eighth after he was hit on the wrist by a 97 MPH fastball from Anthony Bender.

The team indicated after the game that X-rays came back negative.

IL moves

After Corey Seager missed the entire weekend series versus the Red Sox, Texas placed him on the IL with a concussion.

Mets pitcher Christian Scott was placed on the injured list with a right hip impingement.

Angels pitcher Grayson Rodriguez was placed on the 15-day injured list with low back inflammation.

Carlos Estevez and Jorge Polanco were both transferred to the 60-day IL.

Other notes

Yainer Diaz and Kodai Senga are expected to be activated from the injured list on the 16th.

Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is expected to return on June 16 (h/t New York Times).
