Injuries have not been kind to the Blue Jays’ pitching staff this spring. And Toronto confirmed on the 19th that yet another pitcher, this time Trey Yesavage, will begin the season on the injured list.

Yesavage to start year on IL

The Blue Jays confirmed that rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage will start the 2026 season on the injured list.

Manager John Schneider stated on the 19th that Yesavage was dealing with a shoulder impingement, an injury that he entered camp with. The right-hander stated that he felt a pinching sensation when he pulled his arm back during his delivery. However, exercises that he has done of late have the rookie feeling better.

Yesavage has been pitching in simulated/Minor League action over the past few weeks. However, he will not be ready to start the year.

It marks yet another injury for the Blue Jays’ rotation. Shane Bieber and Jose Berrios are both scheduled to start the year on the IL, as well.

Rodriguez dealing with dead arm

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki noted that pitcher Grayson Rodriguez has been dealing with a dead arm in camp.

It marks yet another bump in the road for Rodriguez, who will look to pitch in a regular-season game for the first time since 2024.

Rodriguez’s camp has been uneven, as the righty walked 10 over 12.2 IP.

Wheeler to pitch in MiLB game

The Phillies will have starting pitcher Zack Wheeler throw in a Minor League game down in camp on March 23.

It marks another step forward for Wheeler, who’s been throwing bullpen sessions all spring as he works his way back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery that he had late last year.

Per reports, Wheeler will be limited to 40 pitches (h/t MLB.com).
