Some familiar faces did not play on June 25, with one of those individuals being Bobby Witt Jr. Meanwhile, the Mets saw Marcus Semien hit the injured list with a hip flexor strain, adding some more unpredictability for the organization as July approaches.

Absences

Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (knee) missed his sixth straight game. Witt Jr. last played on June 18.

A’s shortstop Jacob Wilson (shoulder) did not play on the 25th.

Luis Arraez (foot) missed his second straight game.

IL moves

The Mets placed 2B Marcus Semien on the injured list with a left hip flexor strain.

Athletics infielder Zack Gelof was placed on the injured list with a right hand contusion.

Pirates infielder Spencer Horwitz was placed on the IL with a left hamstring strain.

Rays pitcher Steven Matz is now on the 15-day IL with a left ankle strain.

Rangers utilityman Cody Freeman was placed on the injured list with a herniated disc.

Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas was placed on the 60-day IL after he tore a ligament in his right elbow several weeks ago. The move was necessitated, as Rojas’ PED suspension ended.

Additionally, Ryne Nelson (elbow strain) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

Houston had two rehabbing starters in two different places. On the team’s Triple-A affiliate, Lance McCullers Jr. struck out four over three scoreless innings (42). He averaged 91 MPH on his sinker & topped out at 92 MPH.

For the Astros’ Double-A affiliate, Ronel Blanco walked two, allowed two hits, and struck out two over 3.1 scoreless innings (50 pitches).

Red Sox reliever Jovani Moran struck out two over one scoreless inning for Triple-A Worcester.

Mets reliever Dedniel Nunez gave up two hits and struck out one over .2 innings for St. Lucie. Nunez averaged 95 MPH and topped out at 96 MPH.

The Reds sent Emilio Pagan to Triple-A Louisville for a rehab assignment. However, he did not pitch on June 25, as the Bats’ game was postponed due to rain.
