Kyle Stowers and Seiya Suzuki both had strong 2025 campaigns for their respective teams. However, the two are both suffering from injuries that leave their status for 2026 Opening Day very much in doubt.

Stowers to undergo MRI

Yet again, Kyle Stowers is dealing with hamstring trouble,

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough indicated on March 21 that Stowers will be undergoing an MRI on his right hamstring. Miami removed Stowers from the team’s game on the 20th thanks to hamstring tightness.

It’s been a grind of a spring for Stowers, who was sidelined initially during Grapefruit League action thanks to a hamstring strain. He hit .231 across six games this spring for the Marlins.

Torres not in lineup

Tigers infielder Gleyber Torres did not play against his old team, the Yankees, on March 21.

He was scratched thanks to reported back tightness.

Suzuki won’t play to start the year

The Cubs know that Seiya Suzuki won’t be available when the team starts regular-season play against the Nationals next week.

Manager Craig Counsell confirmed that much on the 21st, as Suzuki is still recovering from the PCL sprain that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic.

However, what the Cubs don’t know yet is whether he’ll start 2026 on the bench or require an IL stint to begin the year.
