While not an elimination game for the Dodgers, Game 3 of the NLCS was a de facto must-win. Lose, and Los Angeles will need to win four straight against the club with the best record in the Majors this season. But that is the reality that Dodgers face, as Milwaukee stormed back late to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
Brewers one win away from World Series berth
Milwaukee defeated the Dodgers 6-2 in Los Angeles, giving the Brewers a commanding 3-0 lead in the NLCS.
Jackson Chourio started the game with a solo shot off Blake Snell, which came on the first pitch of the game. But Snell quickly quieted the Brewers, as he proceeded to strike out nine and tossed six scoreless innings after that at-bat with Chourio. It was part of the day in which Snell had a Chase% of 30% and a Whiff% rate of 42%.
Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser kept the Dodgers off the board with five scoreless frames. However, the Dodgers were able to get traffic on the bases against Abner Uribe in the sixth. It was then that Will Smith hit a two-run double to left, giving Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
That lead didn’t last long. Christian Yelich got on base to start the seventh inning. One batter later, Jake Bauers worked an 11-pitch plate appearance. The final pitch was a fastball that Bauers launched for a two-run home run. Garrett Mitchell, the next batter, followed that up with a solo home run of his own.
DL Hall recorded seven outs and earned his third win of the playoffs. Trevor Megill finished Game 3 with a four-out save.
The Brewers can clinch their second-ever league pennant with one more win in the NLCS. It would be the club’s first in the National League, as Milwaukee’s only World Series berth came in 1982 as an American League team.
What’s ahead?
Game 3 of the 2026 ALCS is on tap, as is Game 4 of the 2026 NLCS.
Thanks to expected inclement weather in Cleveland, the Rays/Guardians game will be contested at 1 PM ET. Gavin Williams (Guardians) and Griffin Jax (Rays) are the scheduled starters.
As for Game 4 between the Brewers & Dodgers, that game was moved up one hour to 7 PM CT/5 PM PT to fill in part of the nighttime gap left behind by the ALCS. Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers is the only scheduled starter as of now.
