For the first time in two weeks, the Mets were able to win a game. However, the Phillies continue their early-season skid. Plus, the Astros received an outstanding performance from a hurler who was a Minor League signing this past winter.
Mets defeat Twins
Despite losing Francisco Lindor to a calf injury, the Mets ended their 12-game losing streak with a 3-2 win against the Twins.
Mark Vientos, who was thrown out at home a few innings earlier, drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning.
Connor Prielipp struck out six (22.7% Whiff%) in his Major League debut.
Astros shut out Guardians
Peter Lambert struck out eight (35.6% Whiff%) over six scoreless innings for the Astros, who won 2-0 over the Guardians in the final game of their series.
It was Lambert’s first win of the 2026 campaign. The Astros pitcher was a non-roster invite earlier this spring after he pitched in Japan last season.
Yordan Alvarez hit his 11th home run of the year.
Soriano strong again
Angels pitcher Jose Soriano (35.6% Whiff%) tossed five more scoreless innings against the Blue Jays on April 22 to lower his ERA to .24.
Nolan Schanuel and Mike Trout hit home runs for the Angels, who won 7-3 against Toronto.
