On an eight-game day across Major League Baseball, the Dodgers were able to move up to take a share of the league’s best record in a comeback win against the Marlins. Plus, the Red Sox took their second straight victory under new manager Chad Tracy.
Red Sox beat Jays
Ranger Suarez and the Red Sox defeated the Blue Jays 5-0 on April 27.
This was not the cleanest game for Dylan Cease, who suffered his first loss as a Blue Jay on the day. Cease (27.7% Whiff%) struck out five over 5.2 IP, and took a tumble when he attempted to field a weakly-hit ball from Roman Anthony that scored the game’s second run.
Ranger Suarez was excellent. Suarez struck out 10 over eight innings and had the most swings-and-misses (14) among all Major League pitchers on the day. It was Suarez’s second win with the team.
Dodgers comeback to beat Marlins
The Dodgers scored three runs in the ninth inning to win 5-4 over the Miami Marlins.
Shohei Ohtani started the scoring in the final frame with an automatic double. Kyle Tucker drove in two runs on a single to complete the victory for the Dodgers. That victory pushed the Dodgers’ record to 20-9, tied with the Braves for the best in the Majors.
Pete Fairbanks, who did not finish the game due to injury, was charged with three earned runs over .1 IP.
White Sox win late-night affair
After a three-hour rain delay, the White Sox defeated the Angels 8-7, thanks in large part to a seven-run seventh inning.
Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas both hit home runs in that frame. Murakami now has 12 home runs in the 2026 season.
The Angels lost despite a 14-hit night. Mike Trout and Vaughn Grissom were among the players to have at least two hits in the game.
