It was a very light day across Major League Baseball on May 11. Only six games were on the docket, four of which were American League matchups. The Guardians picked up a win over the struggling Angels, while the Yankees picked up their fourth consecutive loss.

Guardians beat Angels

Joey Cantillo struck out four over six scoreless innings in a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The bottom of the Guardians’ order did most of the damage. All seven RBI came from the bottom four (David Fry, Daniel Schneemann, Travis Bazzana, Brayan Rocchio) in the Cleveland lineup. Schneemann, Bazzana, and Rocchio each had two RBI.

Los Angeles (AL) started with a bullpen game. However, the pen gave up seven runs in the first three innings. Alek Manoah walked five but didn’t allow a run in five innings of bulk relief.

Yankees fall again

A three-run home run from Coby Mayo helped give the Orioles a 3-2 victory over the Yankees in Baltimore.

Ryan Weathers (36% Whiff%) was brilliant through six, as he had a no-hitter entering the seventh. However, that was shortly broken up in the seventh. Weathers exited with two runners on, when Brent Headrick gave up the three-run homer to Mayo.

Ben Rice had two hits, one of which was his 13th home run of 2026.

Rays win in Toronto

Tampa Bay extended their lead in the AL East with an 8-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Kevin Gausman was in trouble from the onset. He gave up an infield single to Chandler Simpson in the first that was misplayed, which kicked off a three-run inning for the Rays. Tampa Bay had 12 hits, and one of those was Jonathan Aranda‘s seventh home run of 2026.

Gausman set some history in the game, as he picked up his 2,000th career strikeout in the contest.

Drew Rasmussen struck out six over six innings for the Rays. His lone mistake was a three-home run to Andres Gimenez, who hit two home runs on the day. Gimenez tallied one off Ian Seymour later on. He drove in all five of the Blue Jays’ runs.

Everything else

  • D-Backs def. Rangers 1-0
  • Mariners def. Astros 3-1
  • Giants def. Dodgers 9-3

Michael Soroka (23% Whiff%) tossed 6.1 scoreless innings for the Diamondbacks en route to his fifth win of 2026. And in Houston, George Kirby (38% Chase%) outdueled Peter Lambert (36% Chase%) to give the Mariners a win over the Astros.
