Denzer Guzman was one of Triple-A’s hottest hitters over the last five weeks. But now, the Angels infielder is back in the Majors, as Los Angeles promoted him on June 8. And so is Trey Mancini, who was also promoted by the Angels.
Halos call up Guzman and Mancini
The Angels promoted Denzer Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake, and also selected the contract of Trey Mancini from the Minors.
Guzman, who spent a healthy amount of time at third, raked in Triple-A over the last month. He finished May with a slash line of .382/.447/.655 and had the most hits (42) in the Pacific Coast League. Not to mention, he hit the ball with authority with 18 extra-base hits.
As for Mancini, the now-34-year-old earned a promotion after hitting well overall with 23 extra-base hits across 52 games with the Bees. Once Mancini gets into a game with the Angels, it’ll be his first action at the big-league level since 2023 with the Cubs.
Cardinals option Scott II
The Cardinals optioned Victor Scott II to Triple-A Memphis.
Scott II’s speed has long been his most valuable asset at the big-league level. Unfortunately, it’s been a grind offensively. As of June 8, Scott II sported a .194 batting average and a .250 wOBA. That wOBA figure, among hitters with 125 PA in the Majors, was 266th out of 281.
