We are officially a month away from the pitchers & catchers report date for Spring Training. Teams continue to add to their organization, including the Blue Jays and Rays. Toronto brought back OF/DH Eloy Jimenez after he spent the final few weeks of 2025 with the team, after he was cut by Tampa. Speaking of the Rays, Tampa Bay added two from the Braves via trade.

Jimenez to Blue Jays

Per multiple reports, including ESPN, the Blue Jays have re-signed Eloy Jimenez to a Minor League deal.

It’s been a stark fall from grace for Eloy Jimenez, who turned 29 years of age this past November. Jimenez spent almost all of 2025 in Triple-A, split between Durham and Buffalo. Jimenez also played eight games in the FCL, and for the first time since 2018, did not play in the Majors.

Jimenez batted .266/.330/.379 with three home runs and 13 extra-base hits across 46 games.

Rays acquire Waldichuk, Wisely

The Braves continue to re-shuffle their 40-man roster, as do the Rays. Atlanta traded Ken Waldichuk and Brett Wisely to the Rays in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Tsung-Che Cheng and Osvaldo Bido, the latter of whom spent part of the offseason as a Brave, were designated for assignment as a corresponding move.

The trade ended Waldichuk’s brief time as a Brave. Waldichuk was claimed off waivers on January 8. Wisely, meanwhile, was DFA’d a few days ago after Atlanta claimed reliever George Soriano off waivers.

As we noted when the Braves picked up Waldichuk, he’s a left-hander who had a good amount of strikeouts with the Athletics’ Triple-A team in 2025. However, the velo fluctuated, sometimes as low as four to five MPH below norms, and piled up the walks.

Waldichuk walked 42 batters over 51 innings.
