It’s officially 2026, and many players will have new homes for next year. While the last day of 2025 didn’t bring much news, there was some action. The Blue Jays added some depth beyond 2026 with the reported signing of Nic Enright. Jarred Kelenic, meanwhile, will vie for a Major League roster spot with the White Sox this spring.
Blue Jays bring in Enright
ESPN reported that the Blue Jays are signing ex-Guardian Nic Enright to a two-year Minor League deal.
The 28-year-old Enright made his Major League debut this past season, one where he struck out 30 over 31 innings and posted a 2.03 ERA for a stout Guardians bullpen. However, Cleveland DFA’d and non-tendered him in November, which does make some sense given his availability for next season.
Enright needed UCL reconstruction surgery after the 2025 season and will likely be unavailable for all of 2026. Hence, the two-year commitment.
The right-hander is a unique pitcher, one with an over-the-top delivery, a riding fastball that averaged 93 MPH, and a slider.
Additionally, MLB Trade Rumors reported that the Blue Jays are also signing Josh Winckowski on a Minor League deal. It’ll mark Winckowski’s return to the organization that drafted him in 2013.
White Sox sign Kelenic
Per MLB.com, the White Sox will sign former first-round pick and Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic to a Minor League deal with a non-roster invite to Spring Training.
The 26-year-old Kelenic elected free agency in October after the Braves outrighted him off the 40-man roster. It ended his two-year stint with the team after Atlanta acquired him from the Mariners in December 2023.
Kelenic hit 15 home runs, 14 of which came off right-handed pitching, in the 2024 season with the Braves. However, Kelenic fell out of favor with the team.
He’s traditionally had problems with non-fastballs over the years and elevated strikeout totals. During his 65 plate appearances with Atlanta in 2025, Kelenic struck out 23 times (35.4%).
