Two trades went down on June 20, as both the Cubs and Blue Jays picked up depth players. Longtime MLB utilityman Luis Urias is headed to the Toronto organization, while the Cubs picked up reliever Jayden Murray from the Astros.

Trades

The Cubs acquired more bullpen help, as Jayden Murray was acquired via trade from the Astros.

Murray, designated for assignment by Houston earlier this week, has been a highly effective reliever at Triple-A over the past two seasons, thanks to a power fastball. However, Murray had limited success at the MLB level, as he walked seven over 13.1 IP this season for the Astros.

In return, the Astros acquired 25-year-old first baseman Cameron Sisneros. Sisneros is, in a sense, an analytics darling, as the 14th-round pick from 2024 picked up 46 walks over his first 49 contests between High-A and Double-A this season. He had 14 extra-base hits over 214 plate appearances.

Additionally, the Blue Jays acquired Luis Urias from the Diamondbacks for cash.

Urias, now 29 years of age, spent parts of eight Major League seasons between the Padres, Brewers, Red Sox, Mariners, and Athletics. With Triple-A Reno this season, Urias slashed .361/.393/.546 across 27 contests.

Recalls & options

Tim Tawa (Diamondbacks), Philip Abner (Diamondbacks), and Anthony Seigler (Red Sox) were recalled from the Minors.

Brendon Little (Blue Jays) and Charles McAdoo (Blue Jays) were optioned to the Minors.

Other news

The A’s selected reliever Geoff Hartlieb from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Luis Peralta (Cubs) and Jared Oliva (Giants) were designated for assignment.

The Mariners outrighted outfielder Curtis Washington Jr. outright to High-A Everett.
