Seattle added some pitching depth on September 2, a much lighter day in terms of transaction activity. Simeon Woods Richardson joined the Mariners on a contract, a week after his last appearance in the Majors.

SWB joins Mariners

The Mariners signed Simeon Woods Richardson to a Minor League deal.

This will be the third team that Woods Richardson has been with this season. The right-hander started with the Twins, was designated for assignment by Minnesota, joined the Blue Jays, and pitched eight games with Toronto before he was ultimately cut from the roster again in August.

Woods Richardson battled walks for much of his tenure with Toronto, as the tall righty allowed three or more free passes in three of his first four outings with the Jays. However, things straightened out before a blow-up on August 21, when he allowed six runs over one inning.

Hernandez selected by Braves

The Braves selected Elieser Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Hernandez, who saw time earlier in the season with Atlanta, picked up his second win of the season on September 2 against the Nationals.
