Two of the five NL East teams were in the transaction news on November 6. After Robert Stock gave the Mets some much-needed rotation help down the stretch, the club re-signed him to a Major League deal. Washington, meanwhile, traded away a relief pitcher prospect for left-hander Reiver Sanmartin.

Stock back with Mets

The Mets announced that the club agreed to re-sign pitcher Robert Stock to a one-year deal.

Stock has been up and down between Triple-A and the Minors but had quite the journey in 2026, going from shoulder surgery recovery to becoming a valuable asset down the stretch for the Mets. In his age-36 season, Stock worked in eight games and struck out 29 over 30 innings.

While his ERA of 5.93 did look gnarly, Stock was able to eat innings down the stretch for a Mets team that traded away most of their Opening Day rotation by the end of it. He was able to induce swing-and-miss, and no hitter recorded a barreled-up ball off either his fastball or changeup.

Nationals, Giants swap relievers

The Nationals acquired left-hander reliever Reiver Sanmartin from the Giants for prospect Robert Cranz.

Sanmartin has spent parts of five seasons in the Majors between the Reds and Giants. The 30-year-old pitched well in Triple-A this past season, and struck out 16 over 22 innings at the big-league level with San Francisco. Generally speaking, he’s been better against left-handed hitters compared to right-handed ones.

Cranz, a seventh-round pick out of Oklahoma State in 2024, had a fantastic campaign in 2026, up until he hit Triple-A. The 23-year-old right-hander was among the top swing-and-miss pitchers in High-A and Double-A before he was promoted to Rochester in June. However, he walked 13 and struck out nine over 11.2 IP (13 GP) with the Red Wings.

Ultimately, he was moved back down to Double-A in August.

His arsenal includes a 94-97 MPH fastball with cut, along with a cutter, sweeper, and slider.

Additionally, the Nationals re-signed outfielder Jacob Young to a four-year extension.

Other notes

Jose Tena is back with the Guardians. Cleveland claimed the infielder off waivers from the Nationals.

Tigers pitcher Yilber Diaz was sent outright to Triple-A Toledo.

The Red Sox released pitcher Zack Kelly.
