Even though the league is off for the 2026 All-Star Game break, there has been some action across the league over the past two days from a transaction standpoint. Boston, on a heater since the middle of June, added outfielder Jahmai Jones from the Tigers.

Red Sox trade for Jones, DFA Eaton

The Red Sox made two moves on the 14th. One was that Boston traded for utility outfielder Jahmai Jones from the Tigers for a player to be named later. Additionally, Nate Eaton was designated for assignment.

Jones has largely been a valuable piece solely for his speed. However, his history at the plate has been mixed. Last year with the Tigers, Jones hit seven home runs in limited play time, and he was actually one of the more important depth players for Detroit down the stretch.

However, this season, Jones slashed .137/.219/.221 (.440 OPS) in 105 plate appearances this season. He can hit the fastball. The problem, though, is that Jones struggled with the soft stuff, which he saw more of in 2026.

Eaton only had 39 plate appearances at the big-league level this season.

Brewers trade McGee to Royals

The Royals traded for ex-Brewers pitcher Easton McGee. It was a cash deal.

McGee saw limited action at the MLB level over the past few years. Low-90s fastball, coupled with a cutter and a low-80s curveball.

Other news

The Nationals sent Matt Krook outright to Triple-A Rochester.

On July 13, the Pirates traded pitcher Cam Sanders to the Orioles. Alimber Santa (Astros), Tyler Davis (White Sox), Nick Raquet (Orioles), and Sanders were optioned to Triple-A.

Additionally, the Dodgers sent pitcher Charlie Barnes outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
