Catcher Jake Rogers was one of the longest-tenured members of the Tigers, as the veteran was with the organization for nearly a decade. But on July 28, the team designated him for assignment.

The Tigers designated catcher Jake Rogers for assignment.

Rogers, once a regular backstop for the Tigers before the emergence of Dillon Dingler, was the final player remaining in the organization from the trade that sent Justin Verlander to the Astros back in 2017. At the time, Rogers was freshly removed from college after Houston selected him in 2026.

He spent parts of six seasons with the Tigers. This season, he slashed .161/.266/.301 with the Tigers over 36 contests.

Cardinals select Strzelecki

Former Brewer and Guardian Peter Strzelecki had his contract selected by the St. Louis on July 28.

Strzelecki was just signed on a Minor League deal with the club a few days earlier. He struck out 28 over 26.1 IP in Triple-A before the Brewers released him earlier this year.

Easton McGee (Royals), Daniel Espino (Guardians), Gus Varland (Nationals), and Jack Anderson (Twins) were recalled.

Payton Henry (Phillies), Hunter Dobbins (Cardinals), Alex Freeland (Dodgers), Andrew Alvarez (Nationals), Jose Urquidy (White Sox), and Johnathan Rodriguez (Pirates) were optioned to the Minors.

Other notes

Jose Franco (Reds) and Osleivis Basabe (Giants) had their contracts selected.

Mariners infielder Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment.
