In July 2023, the Arizona Diamondbacks were dropped by Bally Sports. Thus, the D-Backs will no longer be available on the network but can be seen in other ways. Here’s a look at how Diamondbacks fans can watch the team.
How to Watch the Diamondbacks
Fans have a number of options to watch the Diamondbacks, now that Bally Sports no longer broadcasts games. Diamondbacks games can be seen on a number of different cable and streaming platforms, including Fubo.
Here’s a look at notable providers:
- Comcast xFinity: Ch. 1261
- Cox (Yurview): Ch. 4 (Phoenix), Ch. 7 (Tuscon)
- DirectTV: Ch. 686-3
- Spectrum: Ch. 304
- DirectTV Stream (Streaming)
- Fubo (Streaming)
- MLB.TV (Streaming)
For those out of the loop, Bally Sports owned the rights to air Arizona Diamondbacks — a team laden with young stars like Corbin Carroll and Zac Gallen and in the midst of a playoff race — games for the 2023 season. However, Bally Sports’ owner Diamond Sports Group entered bankruptcy earlier in the year, thus leaving the future of the telecasts in serious doubts.
On July 18, ESPN broke the news that Diamond Sports Group’s request to shed its contract with the D-Backs was granted by a bankruptcy judge. Thus, the broadcast company would be under no obligation to continue broadcasting games, nor pay rights fees to the team.
MLB announced that in the wake of the ruling, the league would take control of broadcasts. This is similar to what the league did in May 2023 with the San Diego Padres, when Diamond failed to make its rights fee payment to the Padres.
We should note, however, that those who have MLB.TV can’t watch Diamondbacks game in the local area, unless one purchases the special D-Backs single team package. It costs $19.99/month, or $54.99 for the rest of the season.
