Assuming a season will be played in 2027, Major League Baseball will come back to Central Pennsylvania for a keystone event. That would be the Little League Classic, which will feature an interleague matchup.

When & where will the 2027 Little League Classic be held?

The 2027 MLB Little League Classic will be held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on August 19, 2027. League commissioner Rob Manfred noted that, for 2027, the Little League Classic will be on a Thursday, the first time that it will ever be held on that day. Traditionally, it’s been hosted on a Sunday and shown nationally on ESPN.

Which teams will participate?

The Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays will be the two teams involved in the event.

It’ll be the first time that the Blue Jays are participating in the Little League Classic. As for the Cubs, the club played in Williamsport back in 2019, winning 7-1 over the Pirates. As of 2026, the only player in the lineup for the Cubs in that game and still on the present team was Ian Happ.

As of this writing, this game will be the opener of what was supposed to be a three-game series hosted by the Blue Jays in Toronto. When the first edition of the 2027 MLB schedule was released, the Cubs and Blue Jays were scheduled for three games between August 20 and 22, 2027. The 19th was a common off-day for both teams.

However, just like with other speciality events scheduled for 2027, the pending lockout will affect any potential plans. Manfred, in an interview with ESPN on August 23, 2026, indicated that the plan is to play & have a season next year.
