One week after Sony confirmed that Aaron Judge would be on the cover of MLB The Show 25, the first official trailer of the game was released on February 3. It included the first reveal of new legends, plus a look at the new ratings overhaul and Road to the Show additions for this year’s game.

Features

Let’s start with featured touch in MLB The Show 26.

Late in 2025, SDS noted that fielding attributes would get an overhaul. Sony showed off a new player card look for Diamond Dynasty, which also showed off the new splits for directional reaction/jump. There are now four different ratings for fielding direction: forward, backward, left, and right.

Moving to gameplay, a near “Bear Down” pitching mechanic — showcased in a high-pressure situation — was highlighted in a clip narrated by Robert Flores, who’s been a part of past MLB The Show games.

As far as Road to the Show, Sony showcased functionality and features coming to Road to the Show.

New colleges are coming to the game. Aside from Fresno State, which was advertised when Judge was revealed as the cover athlete, Arkansas, Florida, and Michigan were shown. Those schools will join North Carolina and Oregon State as playable schools.

The official NCAA College World Series will also be in the game.

The Baseball Hall of Fame will also be added. A new cutscene showcased commissioner Rob Manfred, as well as inducted HOF legends, in an induction ceremony alongside the custom-created player.

A new trade hub and aforementioned AI lineup construction improvements were also advertised.

Additionally, Sony confirmed that all 20 World Baseball Classic federations will be featured in MLB The Show 25. The Tokyo Dome, as well as Terrapin Park & Hiram Bithorn, will also be in the game as playable stadiums.

New legends

Additionally, we saw Sony San Diego hint at what’s to come in Storylines: Season 4, plus new legends in MLB The Show 26.

Felix Hernandez, a former AL Cy Young winner, is back in MLB The Show 26 after he had not been featured in a game since 2021 (his rights remained in the game as an active player even though he did not play).
