On March 4, Sony released the first batch of new information for MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty. That batch touched on previously-released info on the World Baseball Classic. Plus, the developers also unveiled new changes that will be coming to the parallel system.

The WBC in Diamond Dynasty

As noted multiple times by Sony during the release marketing for MLB The Show 26, players will be able to play against World Baseball Classic teams with their own Diamond Dynasty in Mini Seasons.

However, one new detail announced is the length of Mini Seasons. Users will be able to choose the length of games, including three and nine-inning contests. Additionally, the WBC Mini Seasons can be played in either a seven-game or 28-game season.

Additionally, Sony indicated that players will be able to unlock WBC-themed cards through Diamond Quest, programs, and a Moonshot-style Event.

Customizable Parallels

The big piece of news came via customizable parallels, designed to make upgrading cards in the game faster. For those unaware, Parallels, which have been in the game since 2021, allow players to add up to five extra attribute points to a card, based on how much it’s been used.

New to MLB The Show 26 is the ability to customize how those attributes are added. Rather than a blanket +1 to each attribute for each parallel level, Diamond Dynasty players can double down on strengths or choose to use parallel upgrades to shore up weaknesses.

In the teaser, Sony showed specific tier mods that can be acquired through acquiring PXP and fulfilling some sort of stat-based requirement, like hits.

Sony also showed off a Red Diamond category for 95-99 OVR cards, which looks very similar to the old Prestige system from MLB The Show 20.

As far as other information, SDS touted a new UI for Diamond Dynasty, plus new commentary.

The teaser from Sony also showed former Orioles and Yankees reliever Zack Britton, who would be a new legend for MLB The Show 26, plus Matt Carpenter and returning legends Ron Santo & Keith Foulke.
