This past week was a big one in the Minors. Several 2026 first-rounders made their pro debuts, including the one taken before everyone. And speaking of the MLB Draft, a first-round pick from 2025 had a loud week in the Eastern League.
More pro debuts
The White Sox had Roch Cholowsky make his long-awaited pro debut this past week, less than a month after he was picked first overall by Chicago. With Winston-Salem, Cholowsky picked up five hits, three walks, and three stolen bases. Plus, his first career pro home run.
As for other first-rounders to debut, Marlins infielder Jacob Lombard played his first pro game in the same week his older brother made the jump to the Yankees. Jacob, taken by the Marlins 14th overall this past July, went 4-for-19 with a home run.
Ryder Helfrick, taken one pick after Lombard by the Diamondbacks, hit two home runs between his first four games with Low-A Visalia.
Ace Reese, taken 24th overall by the Mariners, went 3-for-5 in his first two games with Low-A Inland Empire.
Chris Hacopian (Nationals) and Logan Hughes (Astros) picked up their first pro hits, too.
McAdoo paces International League
It’s been a strong season for Blue Jays infielder Charles McAdoo, who made his MLB debut earlier this year. And he continued that strong year, as he had four home runs and 13 RBI over the past week with Triple-A Buffalo.
Through 89 contests with the Bisons, McAdoo has 16 home runs on the season. Between those and the one home run he hit with the Blue Jays this season, he’s tied a career-best (17) set two years ago.
Cox back on track with Sacramento
After a stint in the Majors, Giants outfield prospect Jonah Cox is back in the Minors — and hitting just like he did with Double-A Richmond. Cox, across five games with the River Cats, hit .609 (14-23) with a home run and six RBI. Across nine total games with Triple-A Sacramento, he racked up 20 hits.
And through 53 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Cox slashed .420/.468/.655 (1.123 OPS) with 27 extra-base hits and 33 stolen bases.
Voit has monstrous week
Mitch Voit, the Mets’ first-rounder from 2025, put a tough start to 2026 behind him to put up good overall numbers in High-A Brooklyn. And now with Double-A Binghamton, Voit continued to produce.
Voit went 11-for-18 over five games with Binghamton, and also walked four times. Over his first 11 games, the 21-year-old had nine extra-base hits, plus six stolen bases to give him 42 total on the year.
