Yet again in 2023, MLB held a Draft Lottery in 2023 to determine which team will pick first in next year’s MLB Draft. Now that the lottery is complete, we now know the order for the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft. And, the team that will pick first won 25 more games than the club that finished last in the 2023 standings.

2024 MLB Draft Order for First Round
Here’s a look at the order for the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft:

The order was decided via the MLB Draft Lottery that was held during the Winter Meetings.
The big winners in the Draft Lottery were the Ohio teams. The Cleveland Guardians, who finished 2023 with a 76-86 record, won the lottery and will pick first. Cincinnati, who went 82-80 in 2023, will pick second.
Both teams had significantly better records than the Rockies — who went 59-103 — and the league’s worst Athletics. Oakland lost 112 games in 2023.
We should note that multiple teams did fall in the MLB Draft due to the fact they went over the CBT threshold by over $40MM. The Mets, Yankees, and Padres all dropped 10 spots.
