Updated as of April 21, 2024. Odds as of April 21, 2024.

Odds

Here’s a look at 2024 AL Cy Young odds, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook (as of April 2):

Burnes and Skubal remain the two front-runners as far as Vegas is concerned. But since the start of the 2024 season, the likes of Pablo Lopez and Reid Detmers have risen significantly.

Shane Bieber, who sat at +1300 as of April 2, underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of 2024.

Power rankings

Here’s a look at our April power rankings for the 2024 AL Cy Young Award:

  1. Corbin Burnes
  2. Tarik Skubal
  3. Jose Berrios
  4. Kutter Crawford
  5. Reid Detmers

No changes at the top, even though strong arguments could be made for Jose Berrios and Kutter Crawford.

We’ll get to those two in a second but let’s quickly go over Burnes and Skubal’s seasons. Burnes has been very good, as he struck out 29 over 29.1 IP to this point and should be among the top five — assuming he stays healthy — once 2024 ends.

Skubal, meanwhile, owns a strong 2.28 ERA and 0.80 WHIP, to go along with 26 strikeouts over 23.2 IP.

Then, there’s Jose Berrios and Kutter Crawford. The two own the best pitching bWAR figures (1.7 for Crawford, 1.6 for Berrios) as of April 21, and both own sub-1.00 ERA figures.

When is the AL Cy Young Award winner announced?

The AL Cy Young Award winner is traditionally given out every November, after the conclusion of the postseason.

Why can’t I bet on the AL Cy Young Award winner?

Some states do not allow betting on awards-based props. One example of this is New York, although there has been a push to end this in the Empire State.
