Just eight games are set for May 30, as it’s travel day for many of the teams across Major League Baseball. Still, there will be much to take in, as several division series will finish up, including the Astros and Mariners in Seattle. So, what looks good on the betting front for the penultimate day in May? Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for May 30 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):
- Royals/Twins under eight runs (-115)
- Joey Ortiz over 1.5 H+R+RBI (+105)
The Royals and Twins will finish their four-game series on May 30, a series that has seen the two teams put up fewer than eight combined runs in two of the previous three. On May 29, the Royals won 6-1 behind a home run from Salvador Perez and two from Nelson Velazquez.
One would think the day game after the night game would benefit the two starters, both of whom have been clicking as of late. Chris Paddack yielded two runs in each of his last two starts, while Brady Singer‘s allowed just one earned run in four of five May starts prior to May 30.
As for our second pick, we’re focusing in on Brewers infielder Joey Ortiz. Ortiz, acquired in the Corbin Burnes trade last winter, went 20-68 (.294) with 10 RBI and 14 runs scored over May. And, he’s been a very effective leadoff hitter — at least he was on Wednesday — thanks to his ability to draw walks (13.0%).
Assuming Ortiz bats in the leadoff spot again versus Jameson Taillon and the Cubs, Ortiz is a name to consider on the 30th.
