Major League Baseball action on May 29 will get going early, as several day games are set. Among those games are a doubleheader in Detroit between the Pirates and Tigers, and a clash between St. Louis and Cincinnati at 1:10 PM ET. So, what looks good on the betting front across Major League Baseball for the 29th? Here are our best MLB bets for May 29, 2024.

Our best bets for May 29

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for May 29 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):

It’s a day game in San Francisco, as the Phillies and Giants will finish their series on May 29. Left-hander Kyle Harrison has struck out five or more batters in seven of 11 starts this season, including three of his last five. Most recently, the 22-year-old struck out six on May 24 against the Mets.

Harrison hasn’t missed the amount of bats one would likely expect out of a lefty who can pound up with a plus fastball and a good slider but the strikeout numbers aren’t bad this year. Plus, it does help that Harrison will be on the right side of the handedness matchup with the likes of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.

As for our second pick, Bryse Wilson will get the start for the Brewers against Shota Imanaga and the Cubs. It’s a matchup that looks good on paper, as Chicago is in the bottom ten in Whiff% (26.6%) and K% (23.6% as of May 28).

Yet, Wilson has struck out six or more in just three of his last six. It’s not a shock to see those numbers, as Wilson is a pitch-to-contact righty who doesn’t miss many bats but can jam hitters in the zone with his cutter and sinker.
