Cardinals ace Sonny Gray will look to salvage the series against the Mets for St. Louis. Gray’s off to a stellar start, and he’s inducing plenty of swing-and-misses off his curveball and sweeper to start the season. Gray owns an above-average 29.9% Whiff% rate on the year and he’s struck out six or more in each of his last four outings.
As for our second pick, it’s a day game after a night game in Chicago, which could mean a nice pitching-friendly game between two hurlers on a roll right now.
Dylan Cease has a sparkling 0.80 WHIP and 48 strikeouts over 42.1 IP, along with an outstanding Whiff% 31.7%). Cease has given up one or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts, a streak that started on April 10 when he notched his first victory of 2024 against the Cubs.
