We’re back with our prop picks after a hiatus. The second of August will include a full slate of games, which will get going early with a 2:20 PM ET start in Chicago between the Cubs and Cardinals. So, what looks good for the day of action? Here are our best MLB bets for August 2, 2024.

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for August 2 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):
- Eugenio Suarez over 1.5 H+R+RBI (-105)
- Bryan Woo under 4.5 strikeouts (-130)
- Joe Ryan over 6.5 strikeouts (-140)
Can Eugenio Suarez stay hot in Pittsburgh? Suarez went on a rampage over the last week, as he belted four home runs and eight RBI over his last five games, as well as nine runs scored. And with this specific prop, Suarez cracked over 1.5 H+R+RBI in eight of his last 10 contests.
Suarez won’t get Paul Skenes on the 2nd. Instead, he’ll face right-handed pitcher Luis Ortiz. The Diamondbacks’ third baseman hit right-handed pitchers (.745 OPS) better than lefties (.675) this season.
Next up is Bryan Woo. The 24-year-old’s pitch totals have been heavily monitored in recent weeks, as Woo didn’t throw more than 73 pitches in his last five starts. And, he struck out five or more batters just once over that span.
Now, there is some risk here, namely a Phillies team with dangerous hitters but also struggling hitters. Bryce Harper is batting .149/.240/.358 in July, although the good news is he’s struck out 15 times (20%) over those 17 games. Still, the limitations of Woo make this a solid option.
As for our last pick, the White Sox are in the midst of a 17-game losing streak. Now, one would expect the Sox to end that at some point but will that be the case on August 2? The White Sox will face the Twins, led by Joe Ryan. Ryan has 138 strikeouts on the season and the righty’s notched six or more in his last five contests and eight in three of his last five.
The White Sox have the 10th-worst Whiff% (26.5%) in the league and the ninth-most total strikeouts (965). It’s a soft matchup for Ryan and the Twins.
