The fifth weekend of the 2025 Division I college baseball season concluded on March 16. It was the first weekend of SEC in-conference action, highlighted by a matchup between two 2024 CWS schools: Florida and Tennessee. But after the conclusion of the weekend, very little changed as far as rankings are concerned.

Texas A&M and Troy fell out of the top-25. Yes, you read that correctly: the Aggies are out of the top-25 after starting the year at #1.
Texas A&M sits at 10-9 after a disappointing first five weeks, a stretch that included a sweep at the hand of the Crimson Tide this past weekend at College Station. Alabama ace Zane Adams (5.2 IP, 4 K, 1 ER) did enough to get the job done on the 14th, then experienced the Justin Lebron show on the 15th. Lebron notched three hits, including a home run.
A&M scored only two runs over the final two games of their series against Alabama.
Getting back to the current top-10, the top six teams remain in the same spots as they were in last week. Two teams moved into the top-10, in Oregon and Oklahoma, as the two schools tied at #9 after Week 5.
Oklahoma moved into the top-10 after taking two of three in their first conference series against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kyson Witherspoon struck out seven on March 14 to give the Sooners their first-ever SEC conference win. Oklahoma won on March 16 to clinch the series.
This past weekend saw several marquee SEC matchup aside from those two previously mentioned: Auburn/Vanderbilt and Florida/Tennessee, the latter of which was a top-10 matchup.
Auburn took two of three in Alabama, moving the Tigers up seven points. Pitcher Samuel Dutton and outfielder Bub Terrell played key roles in their series win. Terrell, batting .311, has been one of several important offensive threats for the Tigers this season, one that’s seen cold spells for Ike Irish and Bristol Carter, both of whom are batting below .300.
The Volunteers, meanwhile, are now a perfect 20-0 on the season. Tennessee swept the Gators this weekend, highlighted by a 10-0, seven-inning win on March 15.
Moving to the ACC, the Louisville Cardinals are back in the top-25. Louisville took two of three against the Tar Heels this weekend, pushing the Cardinals up and UNC down. North Carolina moved down to #15 after their second-straight ACC series loss.
Louisville, as we noted in our ACC preview, lost several key pieces last summer, including now-Tennessee infielder Gavin Kilen. The Cardinals, though, brought back Zion Rose (.325 AVG, .558 SLG in 2025) and Patrick Forbes (2.16 ERA, 45 K over 25 IP), both of whom have been excellent.
However, perhaps the most notable standout for Louisville this season has been Tague Davis, the freshman who has seven home runs on the year. That number is second-best among freshmen, behind only Gabe Miranda (Northern Kentucky).
